Japan Rethinking Its Non-Nuc Power Policy

Japan just had a revelation. In the wake of the Fukushima disaster, the country had panicked and shut down all its nuclear power plants. Since Japan has no fossil fuels, it found it had to import far more energy.

The result? It's energy bills went up $30 billion, or 41%. That was an untenable proposition, even in a rich country like Japan.

New policy. They have decided to reopen the 17 nuclear plants they closed, though with lots more checks in place.

My thought. Good for them. It's never too late to use one's common sense.
